Najib, Manmohan launch Little India Brickfields

Posted by anak wilayah on October 28, 2010

KUALA LUMPUR: In a historic moment, Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and his visiting Indian counterpart, Dr Manmohan Singh, Wednesday launched Little India, Kuala Lumpur’s Indian enclave in Brickfields.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak and his visiting Indian counterpart, Dr Manmohan Singh, Wednesday launched Little India, Kuala Lumpur's Indian enclave in Brickfields. Also present, FT Minister Dato' Raja Nong Chik.

Both leaders unveiled a fountain, symbolising the launch of the event which strengthened their close government-to-government and people-to-people relations.

“This is more than a symbol…will be a tourist place and will certainly benefit the people here,” Najib said in his remarks before the launch, which was attended by about 5,000 people amidst tight security in the area.

Little India covers the area from Jalan Travers to Jalan Tun Sambanthan, with the first phase costing RM17mil expected to be ready in December.

Work on the first phase, developed by Malaysian Resources Corporation Berhad (MRCB), began in May.

The two-phase Little India project, worth RM35mil, involves the construction of new business premises and a parking complex, and road expansion.

Standing at 7.62m, the fountain is the tallest in the country. A stone’s throw away is KL Sentral, the capital’s transportation hub.

Manmohan arrived here Tuesday for a three-day official visit to Malaysia.

Wednesday’s event was also attended by Najib’s wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, Manmohan’s wife Gursharan Kaur, MIC president Datuk Seri S. Samy Vellu, ministers, deputy ministers and community leaders.

The Brickfields area was decorated with colourful banners welcoming Najib and Manmohan.

Dignitaries were entertained with cultural shows, including a 1Malaysia welcome song by 60 schoolchildren, and a welcoming dance by maestro Ramli Ibrahim.

After the cultural show, Najib and Manmohan were presented with golden shawls by Federal Territories and Urban Wellbeing Minister Datuk Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin. Both leaders were also garlanded with flowers by his deputy, Datuk M. Saravanan.

The Little India project is Najib’s brainchild. In April last year, less than 24 hours after being sworn in as Prime Minister, he went on a walkabout to meet the people in Brickfields. – Bernama

Kes hukuman mati ke atas pembuang bayi

Posted by anak wilayah on August 17, 2010

Salam Ramadhan,

Salam Ramadhan

Posted by anak wilayah on August 12, 2010

Salam Ramadhan

Posted by anak wilayah on June 30, 2010

Salam 1Malaysia,

Lagi cerita pasal PPR

Posted by anak wilayah on April 1, 2010

Ni blog entri yang menarik untuk dibaca.

———————————————-

Kalau kat KL ni, cerita pasal projek perumahan rakyat memang tak habis. Kalau bukan pasal aduan-aduan kerosakan, mesti pasal permohonan untuk beli satu rumah di PPR. Tak pun mesti pasal kecoh kenapa tak layak nak beli satu. Kalau ikut logik, kenalah ada perancangan bandar, ye tak?

Ni artikel berita yang aku ambil dari blog Menteri Wilayah, Dato’ Raja Nong Chik. Baca jap.

32,762 unit rumah PPR dibina sekitar KL

KUALA LUMPUR 23 Mac.

Sumber: Bernama

Ehem. Tambah lagi? Biar betul Datuk Seri Kong Cho Ha ni. Berani benar. Yelah. Bukan senang nak main tambah-tambah je PPR ni. Silap-silap tak seimbang la. Projek terbengkalai la. Silap plan habis la kawasan tu. Dah la ibu kota.

Aku ingat lagi, dulu aku pernah tengok adik aku main SimCity. Nampak macam senang. Macam tak mencabar je nampak. Tapi adik aku selalu kalah/rugi. Haha. Apa yang susah sangat? Bagi aku, samalah juga dalam realiti. Game tu pun memang ikut macam realiti. Sekolah, hospital, balai bomba, balai polis dan kemudahan awam lain, semua ada maintenance charge. Kalau silap susun sikit, jalan jam. Kalau silap plan sikit, tanah tak laku. Tak ada orang duduk. Pastu tax kurang. Last-last rugi. Isk isk. Kalau macam tu jadi ketua kampung pun tak lepas.

Nak dekat setahun dah Dato’ Raja Nong Chik jadi menteri wilayah, setakat ni aku rasa KPI dia memang power. Kalau setakat ada willpower je, takkan berjaya sampai sini. Jadi, tahniahlah pada Dato’ Raja Nong Chik!

Mesti Dato’ Raja Nong Chik terer main SimCity kan. Hehe. Apa-apa pun, good luck to Dato’ Raja Nong Chik.

Tindakan susulan kpd aduan Ezan Mokti

Tuesday, March 2, 2010 at 11:49pm
Ezan Mokti

Aduan:

Hi Dato’,
Sending a message to a minister may seem impertinent and for that I apologise but I am at my wits end and do not know what recourse there is for me and my neighbours. I hope you will be able to help us here.

I am a resident of Sri Ledang Condos located in Section 10 Wangsa Maju and have been staying here for the past 17 years, and I speak for my fellow residents.

About one and half year ago, one of the shophouse reataurant started having karaoke sessions at night and since then life has never been the same for us at Sri Ledang. The loud singing, amplified as the night goes into stillness and the fact that the karaoke sessions are held in an open area has made our nights a living hell, or shall I say a sleepless hell. The loud singing goes well into the wee hours ( until 3am on weekends ) of the morning causing us residents a lot of distress. Most of us cannot sleep with our windows open anymore as we have to shut them and turn the aircon on so as to drown these ghastly attempts at singing. Many of us have called the Wangsa Maju police but they do not seem to be able to do anything about it. We wrote to our wakil Rakyat, Dato’ Zulhasnan but the show still seems to go on. I can hear the screaming, I mean singing even now as I write this.

Please Dato’ for the sanity of the residents of Sri Ledang, I implore you to help us resolve this problem. We are not against others having fun, but please, not at our expense. If only they are not so loud, then we can all co-exist. We are working folks with families and find this kind of activity very distressing. I have an ailing mother staying with me and she gets very upset with the din every night. We, the residents of Sri Ledang are willing to meet with you if you deem it necessary.

The name of the cafe is D’Bali Cafe located in the row of shophouses in section 10 Wangsa Maju, opposite Institut Terjemahan Negara.

Thank you Dato’ and please forgive me if I have acted out of place but I really don’t know who else to turn to.

Salam,
Nooraizan Abdul Mokti

Tindakan:

Tengku Roseman Tengku Yazid

Soalan:

Reduce traffic jam, make a better place

Posted by anak wilayah on February 3, 2010

One of the main reasons why urban areas are congested with vehicles, is everyone wants to use their own vehicle to go to the work. They said that it is easier, but in my opinion this kind of attitude will also contribute to many other negative effects to the people and the cities.

The traffic jam, the global warming, risk to car accident, and late to work will become the main problems to the people in the urban areas. So that’s why the government planned to reduce the traffic congestion by encouraging the people to use the public transport.

A few years back, government started a campaign about sharing cars to work. At first there was a positive effect but then people started to forget about it. And here we are, everyday life with half an hour to an hour’s traffic jam. However, the good thing is the government still thinks about us although we’re being hardheaded about using the public transport or sharing cars.

Now, government still on their soft-side, trying to make a better place for us.

January 28, 2010 16:50 PM

Urban Public Transport Enhanced By 2012

KUALA LUMPUR, Jan 28 (Bernama) — Highlights of the Government Transformation Programme Roadmap towards improving urban public transport:

*Increasing the percentage of overall utilisation of public transport from 10 to 13 per cent in 2010.

*Raising the number of public transport users from 240,000 to 265,000 this year.

*Increasing the accessibility and communication of the overall percentage of the population residing within 400 meters of the public transport route from 63 per cent to 75 per cent.

The government’s main target is to improve the standard of public transport at the main population centres in Malaysia, beginning with increasing the use of public transport during peak hours, that is, from 7am to 9am by 25 per cent in the Klang Valley in 2012, and subsequently in Penang and Johor Baharu.

Efforts to improve urban public transport services would also be emphasised including improving reliability by focusing on punctuality of the services and subsequently reducing journey time.

In addition, the quality of the journey four users of public transport in terms of comfort and convenience would also be enhanced by ensuring that the rakyat get easy access to public transport and providing adequate transportation capacity for existing and new passengers.

Five important measures that have been identified to improve public transportation between 2009 and 2012 were coordination of the capacity of systems which had reached their limit, that is, by raising the capacity of the KTM Komuter and LRT by between 1.7 and four times.

In order to attract more people to use public transportation, the ticket and fare structure for public transport would be integrated and about 6,800 additional parking bays would be provided at 14 major rail stations. Feeder bus services to the rail stations would be improved while stations with high traffic volume would be upgraded.

— BERNAMA

So stop being so-hard-to-deal-with and stubborn, help the government in reducing the traffic congestion because this all are for us either to live or work in a better environment.
